Conservative Leadership for the 3rd District of North Carolina
A Conservative on the Issues
CUT WASTEFUL SPENDING
Citizens work too hard to see their money squandered or wasted by politicians in Washington. I will never, and I mean never, be an automatic spender of our hard-earned tax money, but will seek to sponsor and co-sponsor sensible efforts to cut spending and balance the budget. With a debt of over $20 trillion, we owe it to our children and grandchildren.
I have a proven record of advocating and achieving economic improvements for our farmers and agribusiness. Agriculture is North Carolina’s #1 industry, and rural areas depend on a strong agriculture economy. Farmers and their families are hard-working people who believe in an honest day’s pay, for an honest day’s work.
Rural communities bond together when times are tough, and always have each other’s back. I’ve led a statewide group of thousands of NC farmers for one reason – to keep our rural economies strong and our families prosperous. We must do the same for all small businesses in the district as well as foster the appeal of eastern NC to attract new jobs to the region and increased opportunities for the future generations.
PROTECT OUR SECOND AMENDMENT
Under no circumstances will I compromise on our Second Amendment right to bear arms. Never.
INDIVIDUAL RATE TAX CUTS
NC state level tax cuts brought about state economic growth beyond the national averages. The federal tax cuts led by President Trump are bringing the strongest economy in history. Now it’s time to cut all individual tax rates, high and low, across the board.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND STRENGTHEN MILITARY FAMILIES
The world is only safe because of brave American young men and women who risk their lives so that the United States can be the beacon of hope and freedom in the world. Military spouses deserve every opportunity to succeed as well, and both deserve to have a good job available and/or waiting for them when they come home. I support and will advocate for increased earnings for active duty service members. Improved benefits for our veterans and improved military housing for military families.
IMMIGRATION AND BORDER SECURITY
Having a wall means very simply, having an apparatus to verify entry. A wall on the boarder will not prohibit anyone from legal entry for visitation as well as proper migration. Walls exist in many areas already. From the Vatican City to the NC Governors mansion walls are in place for security. Once individuals are properly vetted, they can be permitted for entry. Its that simple. We need to enforce our nations immigration laws and assist those who desire to become citizens using the proper legal mechanisms in place.
The affordable health care act is not affordable for working class people. Especially small business owners with even marginal incomes and assets. For a family of five, all healthy and non-smokers I pay nearly $25,000 per year. It is ridiculous that health insurance premiums are larger than mortgage payments. We must advance necessary reforms that address these run-away rising costs.
STOP LIBERAL SOCIALIST NONSENSE
The 17 counties in the 3rd District makes the largest in our state’s rural economies, based largely on agriculture, forestry and fishing. All of these are threatened by liberal socialists and their extreme policies being discussed in Washington, such as the poison Green New Deal, which attacks the way we farm, what we farm, how we farm it, how we transport it for sale, and even livestock methane emissions. Clearly, few politicians have any idea how important small businesses are to make our economy function.
